As I enter my fourth year on the bench, I am grateful and reflective of all we have accomplished in the Tacoma Municipal Court. In 2023, we launched two Therapeutic Courts: Behavioral Health Court and Community Court. Therapeutic Courts are programs that provide wrap-around case management and accountability for community members navigating the criminal legal system with underlying conditions. Behavioral Health Court helps community members with serious and persistent mental health diagnosis. Community Court helps community members struggling with mild mental health conditions, substance use disorder, housing instability, and/or food insecurity. We are committed to expand these programs and others that increase access to our Court and provide alternatives to case resolution that reduces recidivism and increases community safety.
I have worked hard to be a good steward of this seat and maintain your support and confidence in me as your judge. This position is the privilege of my lifetime and I hope to serve in Department 1 another four years. Please reach out with any questions you may have and I look forward to hearing from you!
